Now cracks a noble heart. Goodnight, sweet Prince. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Ohhh...oh.

You ever have one of those feelings wash over you, where you feel betrayed, angry, and nauseous over a suddenly discovered piece of information? I'm having one of those moments.

Think I'm gonna lay down.

6:09 am - film review: Coraline
Went with Fox to see the film Coraline tonight. I'm not going to waste my breath on recounting plot or telling you not to take young kids to see it. Read a review online for that. Instead, i'll give you my impressions.
Firstly, this film must be seen in 3-D. Don't even bother going if the theater is showing it without. The movie was filmed in order to take best advantage of the technology, and I can't imagine it in 2-D.
Secondly, don't go to see it if you're only going for the fact the book was written by Neil Gaiman. That's missing the point. It's not a goddamn goth film.
Thirdly, don't go see it just for They Might Be Giants. there's only one song in the entirety of the film by TMBG, and it's less than a minute long. Coraline isn't a musical. Edit: Go YouTube "Coraline Song." Despite the shallow length of it, you'll play it several times and it WILL stick with you.
Lastly, do not enter into the theater expecting some deep emotional resonance with the characters. With small harshness, simply know that you won't connect with them. They're pretty puppets.
All in all, I enjoyed the film very much...I just wasn't moved by it. Edit: After deeper analysis, I realized something deeper emotionally. The Other Father, a construct used to convince Coraline to stay in the other world; his parting words proved that, despite being a mere puppet, he loved Coraline as his own daughter.

If your life isn't one big slappin' sack of lizard shit, step forward and recieve your kick in the kidneys. Thanks.

My god, the oatmeal is like cocaine! COCAINE!

The other night, I went to IHOP with Fox to get their everlasting pancakes deal. And, of course, when you order coffee, they give you a giant motherfucking humungo-pot. And refill it whenever you run dry. Forever.
I had eternal pancakes and coffee. Holy shit.

...As it turns out, that's not the best thing for me to have. I drank seven fucking cups of 50s-era strength coffee in the span of forty-five minutes. I literally thought my heart was going to explode, out of my ass, climb my chest like a determined fetus, and slap me in the jaw like a Suprpimp©. Fox laughed at me, of course, but he laughs at me regardless. Seriously, am I that amusing? I know I'm weapons-grade crazycakes, But Jesus, I make his ass roll in the aisles.

For those of you interested, Fox is a fox. He has a furry name, but I refuse to say or write it, on the grounds I think it's massively stupid. That's why I call him Fox. He's cool with it. Why aren't you, huh? Gotta judge me based on my personal pronouns? You fucking semanticist! Gonna call the ACLU on you!

Yeah.

1:30 pm - Thoughts.
"In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird.
Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal."

For those who may be wondering why I've been so silent, it's simple. My web connection is a tenuous filament, nebulous yet enchantingly lithe and evanescent.
Bugger all.
I can't afford it, you bastards.

...

Although, I can afford to buy the compleat Monty Python's Flying Circus DVD collection.
Because Best Buy had it on sale at half-price.

Cheap DSL is down to fifteen bucks a month around here, so I think I'll be investing in it. God damn, I am tired of having spotty internet.

In a off-handed comment that I'm sure will be broadcast over all Hell and half of Georgia, leading to much, much flame, I would like the opportunity to make this statement:

I am better than Two the griffon.

I am coherent, yet I have a sense of humor that is so chaotic, nay, psychotic, that I have caused people physical pain and loss of bladder control (An Actual Fact). I am quick to wit, honed to a razor's brilliance in tongue, and completely mad. In the words of my journalist friend Roger Yale, I'm an Equal-Opportunity Offender. Undoubtedly he's not heard of Two, but what can you expect? He's a normal person.
I ask, dear readers, that those of you who have had the opportunity to sample my wares, as it were, either in person or over the phone, please comment as to the validity of my statement. Those of you who haven't? Comment too. I'll prove it to you.

Lukas.

If you ever needed proof that the government doesn't have our best interests in mind, just look at this $700,000,000,000 bailout scheme. So help me, if that bailout thing goes through, I will not vote for one single incumbent, nor for anybody who approved of it. They're selling us down the goddamned river by giving money to the people who caused the problem in the first place. If you have any sense at all, follow my lead. Refuse to reward these politicians. Look at that number up there! That's how much they want! It's ridiculous!

11:22 pm - Later...
Well, they finally did it. Long venerated Cartoon Network programming block Toonami ended its twelve-year run tonight. No longer strong enough to support itself, the old standby has now officially been consigned to the ages. Reboot, Outlaw Star, Trigun, Gundam Wing, and more recently Naruto, all passed through the hallowed grounds of Toonami. There would be no Adult Swim without it. I, for one, will mourn their passing.

1:26 pm - Confessions of a Gaymer: Guitar Hero Vs. Rock Band
I'm conflicted as to the determination of whether I will continue to be loyal to the Rock Band series, or defect back to the old Guitar Hero collective. After GH3, I stopped appreciating their particular brand, especially on the grounds that their series lacked the features I came to appreciate, then love, in Rock Band. I feel a certain distaste about the whole thing on the virtues of developers, as well. I'm loyal to harmonix, but EA's draconian, megalomaniacal need to devour and monopolize every company that puts out a decent game is becoming increasingly foul to me. On the other hand, the direction activision has taken the GH series (with it's inevitable catch-up game it's playing and the supposed 'innovations' that make their game less satisfying for those who don't purchase their peripherals) renders me bitter and cynical. It's not an issue of which game has what song to me, really. It's about which company has treated their hardcore fans less poorly over the years. Only time will tell, I suppose.
